LIVERPOOL and Chelsea target Alexis Sanchez will not be sold this summer according to Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The 24-year-old, who joined the club from Udinese in 2011, scored eight times as he helped Barcelona capture the La Liga title last season.
The impressive performances of the Chilean international has attracted the interest of Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea, but Bartomeu refuted claims that the forward would be sold this summer.
"Alexis is not for sale. We trust in his ability," he told El Mercurio.
Liverpool have now also turned their attentions to Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa after submitting a £22m bid for the Brazilian international.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking to add to his attacking options as uncertainty remains over the future of Luis Suarez.
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insisted yesterday the Uruguayan would not be sold this summer as they try to convince the striker to stay at Anfield.
Suarez was subject of a £40m plus £1 bid from Arsenal earlier this month which was rejected by the Reds.
